Health and Safety has always been important at Szerelmey and there is a continual analysis of ways that health, welfare and safety can be improved at our head office and on site.

Recent Initiatives - 2006

The CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme has been extended to cover all Supervisors as well as Managers. This awareness also applies to the head office, where staff have recently undergone training in manual handling.

Furthermore, our commitment to using resources to improve health and safety for our employees is shown in the following areas:

· Dedicated H&S Manager provided through The Health and Safety People.
· Holding Health and Safety Reviews with operative representatives
· Out-sourcing health surveillance to specialist providers who will provide skin, hearing, HAVS, ear, vision and respiratory testing.
· Review of PPE addressing options on hand, ear and eye protection as well as boot and clothing availability
· Currently investigating the use of dust extraction equipment to minimise dust on site.

This dedication to promote and improve health and safety in the workplace has already been rewarded with the achievement of the monthly safety award at the Plymouth Drake Circus project in 3 of the last 6 months. An award given by Bovis Lend Lease to Szerelmey for the Best Performing Package Contract on this project in September 2006 further enhances this.
