The Hungarian, Colonel Nicholas Charles Szerelmey, established the company in 1855 to investigate the preservation and restoration of buildings. Over the years Szerelmey has gained a reputation for excellence amongst consultants and contractors across the whole of the construction industry. The quality and skill of our workmanship has led to Szerelmey being awarded contracts for the cleaning, restoration and refurbishment of many national monuments and historic buildings.
The experience gained whilst working on such historic stone and terracotta buildings has also developed the company's reputation as a new-build stonework contractor.
Much has been achieved since Szerelmey's formation and new techniques for cleaning and restoring buildings are under constant review by the company. A clear commitment to research, technology and development in products, processes and services continually benefits all Szerelmey clients.
Amongst Szerelmey's many professional services we also include Survey's to compile detailed condition reports and schedules of defects, carry out investigation works and prepare diagnostic reports to identify causes of failure and recommendations to prevent further deterioration.
Szerelmey also provides Design Development, from value engineering exercises at feasibility stage to preparing designs for the cladding, fixings, etc. to meet Eurocodes and British standards of practice, prepare draft specifications to reflect the clients individual requirements and complete samples for review and client approval.
