41 Lothbury

Client: 41 Lothbury Ltd

Principal Contractor: Wates

Architect: GMW Architects

Package Value: £750K

Szerelmey’s package of works at the 1930s Grade II Listed 41 Lothbury included the refurbishment of the current facades and the addition of new stonework to match and integrate with the existing. The restoration and cleaning element required sample panels to determine the correct technical approach, and then a masons clean was chosen to clean and conserve the facades.

The new stonework package, designed to improve the building’s office space, included the addition of Portland Whitbed stone to the facades and internal staircases as well as the installation of granite plinths. This included the temporary removal of sections of traditional walling and embellishments, which were catalogued, detailed, reworked, and re-installed in new areas. Szerelmey also installed all the necessary insulation, damp proofing, support steel work, and fixtures and fittings.
