Szerelmey were contracted to undertake the external stone cladding of this beautiful mixed use building designed by Eric Parry Architects. From ground level to second floor the cladding comprises Impala black granite and granite window surrounds. Additional Cabeca Veada limestone window surrounds, horizontal limestone banding and copings, and cladding from floors 2-5 were also installed. On the south elevation Szerelmey installed seven columns of purple flamed and brushed Porfido granite to the ground floor level. In addition Szerelmey installed stainless steel columns painted with mild steel black gloss to the west elevation. On the corner of Duke of York Street and Apple Tree Yard between ground and first floor level, Szerelmey installed a sculpture carved from black Charnockite by Stephen Cox RA; the piece weighs 5 tonnes and measures 2.5m tall x 2m wide. Szerelmey have previously worked with Cox and fixed his totemic sculpture at 5th floor level on the Eagle Place/Jermyn Street façade of St James’s Gateway, also designed by Eric Parry Architects.
