Restoration Heritage

Craftsmanship at work

At Szerelmey we place great emphasis on “Heritage”. This extends to the important heritage buildings that we have worked on over the last 160 years – listed buildings, ancient monuments and buildings managed by English Heritage, the National Trust, Landmark Trust and others. Our specialist workforce carry Heritage Cards and are qualified to work on the country’s most historic buildings.

In addition we strongly believe in preserving British craftsmanship, skills and traditional restoration techniques, which we utilise alongside the introduction of new technology.

We support learning and trade apprenticeships to perpetuate heritage skills with our senior restorers training the next generation of craftsmen in all types of in situ restoration. We pride ourselves on this level of career development and offer all our staff the opportunity to further their skills within the company. We foster and value a sense of family at Szerelmey and as a consequence we have a high number of staff starting as apprentices and staying with us for many years; we even have several generations of family working within the business.

Our business is based on our staff and the quality of their work; their commitment and dedication to restoration is exceptional.

Szerelmey are members of the National Heritage Training group, the Stone Federation of Great Britain Façade and Surface Repair Committee and the National Stone Industry Training Group. In collaboration with local colleges we offer our apprentices the opportunity to achieve an NVQ level 3 Heritage Skill Card.
