A throwback to a favourite Szerelmey Restoration project from 2016! The team completed extensive restoration work for the Crown Estate to the Grade II listed 70-72 Jermyn Street acting as Principal Contractor and carrying out the work while the building remained in full public use. We cleaned and restored the facades of the building to Jermyn Street and Bury Street. The Jermyn St façade being Portland stone and the Bury Street façade a combination of Portland stone and brickwork. The facades, and associated brick stacks, were cleaned using a combination of nebulous, steam cleaning and gentle abrasion. Following cleaning we carried out extensive insitu repairs to the brick chimney stacks and many repairs to the stonework on both facades and the internal lightwell areas. In addition, all previously painted surfaces on both facades were redecorated and we carried out extensive rebuilding, repair and restoration to the metal fire escapes. Further work included extensive repairs to the roof including large areas of replacement slates matched like for like with original, leadwork, structural roof works to the underlying supports and lantern light replacements.
